Alyssa Nava

Alyssa Nava provides support for the foundation’s work with the Kansas Fights Addiction grant program, working collaboratively with Sunflower staff, grantees, partners, and stakeholders. She assists the foundation’s KFA director with development of KFA program plans and goals, participates in the grant review process, and helps coordinate implementation of the KFA comprehensive statewide needs assessment.

Prior to joining the foundation, Alyssa served as both a prevention specialist and community support specialist at DCCCA, Inc., in Lawrence, Kan. In her prevention role, she coordinated and facilitated statewide opioid prevention grant initiatives, including the Kansas Naloxone Program and Kansas Prescription Drug and Opioid Advisory Committee. As a community support specialist, she provided substance use prevention expertise, technical assistance, and training services to coalitions at the community level.

Alyssa, who grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and now resides in Lawrence, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trinity University in San Antonio. She later earned her Master of Public Health, with a focus in program management and mental health, from Boston University.
