KFA Responsive Grant Program on temporary 30-day pause starting July 10

The Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board has approved a temporary 30-day pause of the KFA Responsive Grant Program (RGP), effective July 10, 2026, after which the board will assess resuming the program. After completing the initial funding cycle, the board has determined the need to clarify the program’s intent and refine published eligibility criteria.

No new applications will be accepted until the program resumes. Applications submitted before July 10 will be considered as scheduled at the board’s September meeting.

The RGP is a rapid response funding opportunity that provides one-time funding to address urgent, time-sensitive needs that benefit the substance use disorder system at the local or state level. It is intended to support opportunities when waiting for standard funding cycles could result in missed chances to leverage other funds, create significant risks, or cause adverse consequences.

In April, the KFA board allocated $3 million for the RGP for calendar year 2026. KFA funding comes from money recovered by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office through opioid legal settlements. Sunflower Foundation serves as the administrator for the KFA grant program.

The KFA board anticipates the RGP, which initially opened in early May, will be an ongoing, open funding opportunity in which they will review applications and select awards on a quarterly basis, with associated deadlines to be considered at each quarterly review and selection meeting.
