Annual Report, 2015

Dear Colleagues,

Sunflower Foundation’s journey began in 2000, with our mission as the roadmap: “To serve as a catalyst for improving the health of Kansans.

Fifteen years later, we pause in this annual report to look back upon the road we’ve traveled by recognizing significant Mile Markers along the way.

Mile Markers signal how far we've come on our journey, and show us how much closer we are to our goals. Each of these mile markers represents more than a number — each is a reminder of progress realized thanks to partnerships with hundreds of community-based organizations across the state. It is the hard work and dedication of Kansans working together to improve the health of our state that yields the most progress today and helps chart the most promising path for tomorrow.

We’re all on our own journeys, traveling with our own perspectives, seeing needs and finding our own ways to meet them. We believe that by working together, we can make the most of all of our efforts to improve the health of our state.

Improving the health and welfare of Kansans is a challenge as vast as the horizon. Yet we can look forward to continued progress thanks to the passionate efforts of partners working to make a difference in the lives of their fellow Kansans.

This 2015 annual report also includes a statement of financial position and details about the investments Sunflower made last year in our key program areas. Descriptions of all grants issued in fiscal year 2015 can be found in the grants list. Each grant was made to catalyze the efforts of those working to improve the health of Kansans — it is truly a privilege to work with these partners.
